Sometimes just looking at my son makes me teary. I cried a lot when I found out I was pregnant, and even more when he was born. Comes with being a mom, right?

yes, they were happy children on that day - and sometimes, words can't describe the happiness we feel when we see our children reveling in their first ice-cream for the season, or their first splash in the sea for the summer...

Louise, this is a great post! We have much in common.. and I understand completely about those things that make you cry.

You really do express yourself so well; this post was very well-written.

Hi Louise,
Thanks so much for taking part. You've shared such a great post with us - I'll sit in the vicinity at the next parade, with a box of tissues specially for you - and you can keep your sunglasses on!

I understand completely. I was at my niece's graduation a couple weeks ago and they presented an honorary diploma to the family of one of the students that had passed, I didn't even know the family and if I ran into them somewhere today would have no clue, I teared up and actually had to wipe a few off my cheecks. I have to say that it has actually gotten worse since I had my first and then again after my second. I think sometimes I could cry at the drop of a hat. Thanks for sharing. I have to say I am amazed at myself at how open I am in my blogging and in my comments. Maybe it has to do with the odds are I never have to see these people and can be unashamedly myself.

That scene in Apollo 13 where Marilyn brings the girls to see Jim's mother in the nursing home to tell her that there's been an accident on the spacecraft. Blanche is a little altered, you see, but sometimes she's right on. Her younger granddaughter starts to cry, and Blanche says "are you scared?" and the daughter nods. "Well, don't you worry," she tells the girl, "If they could get a washing machine to fly, my Jimmy could land it." I'm crying now, just writing this. I have no idea WHY it hits me, but it does.

<strong><em>Mrs. Chili,

I know this is one of your all-time favorite movies, but we just happened to watch it during our trip to Cananda. I had seen it once before and remembered liking it a lot, but Prince Charming had never seen it, so we were both up for it. (We were on vacation and could stay up as late as we wanted. Sleep in. And all the rest.) Unfortunately it was on some channel that had commercials and some parts were cut, but it was still great.

But the thing I have to tell you about it is that both Prince Charming and I were choked up several times, including the time you just mentioned. But what's more is that Prince Charming commented the next day about that very scene and quoted it, and had a little catch in his throat while he did so.

Very powerful.
