This was the sunset Halloween night. I might have missed it had I not gone outside to visit with some parents of trick-or-treaters. I love how it has two completely different layers of colored clouds and how it reflects in the car windows on the street. I am sometimes dismayed that I live on such a crowded street because it gets in the way of my photos, but I think it worked in my favor this time.

Beautiful, Louise! This looks so surreal. The reflections on the car windows and the silhouettes are as wonderful as the colors!
November 6, 2008 at 1:12 pm
A real winner of a shot! Great capture, Louise.
November 6, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Great photo.
Nice capture.
Halloween colors on Halloween.
How lucky can you get?
I know, it’s not luck, but a good photographer always ready to get that special photo.
Nice job.
Thanks for the visit,
Texas Travelers

I should say a wonderful deep sunset. Attractive photograph, great light, Louise!
November 6, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Yay!!! Skywatch team-member. Congrats. And Welcome (weird for me to say that – since you’re the one who introduced me to skywatch in the first place).
As always – cool picture, fun places, good memories. Happy SWF.
November 6, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Were you munching on some candy bars when you spotted this? 😀 It’s lovely. You’re right the layers are fabulous.
November 6, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Seriously, I didn’t even notice the cars until you pointed them out. What an amazing sky!!! I love the colors… The moon was amazing the night… a sliver of a crescent moon lit up orange by the setting sun and Venus brilliantly visible just above. It was amazing! I didn’t have a tripod handy. Darn the misfortune. Great capture and congrats on joining the team!!!
November 6, 2008 at 1:40 pm
We are so lucky to have our NM skies — Great golden shot, Louise.

The crowded street is part of the ambiance. 😉 Lovely sky.
November 6, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Dear Louise, you will be a great asset to SWF with your artistic flair. The picture is beautiful of night fall in a busy street. The reflection in the car window is a special touch. Have a nice weekend.
November 6, 2008 at 2:33 pm
Perfect Halloween sky! I love the colors. And you’re right the crowded streets don’t detract at all.
*hugs*
November 6, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Great picture, very special with the different layers and gorgeous colours.
November 6, 2008 at 2:34 pm
It’s lovely. At least you don’t have all the wires that we have here in Highland Park. Every time I wanted a foliage shot, I saw more and more wires.
November 6, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Well done Louise on becoming a team member for Sky Watch.
You Blog such great pictures and have a way with words.
Just lovely sunset with cloud and reflections. Thank you for sharing.

A breathtaking sky. You were in the right place at the right time. And the reflections only add to it.
Wouldn’t it be fun to have fabric in layers like this to wear?
Congradulations on joining SWF.

November 6, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Exceptional. Serendipity often leads us to be best shots. The layers of colour are sublime.
November 6, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Louise; that sky tells such a story – it occurs to me that a description of that sky – a thousand words, eh? – could easily be the melancholy opening of a kickass novel, even if you’ve no intention of writing for Nanowrmo (or whatever it’s called)!
November 6, 2008 at 9:03 pm
It looks like the perfect autumn sky! Yay for SkyWatch. I look forward to it every week!
Suz

And I recognize your name, too. I bet you’re also a letterboxer, right??
If so, I think you’ve found several of the boxes I’ve placed. Cool!
Anyway, I love your city sky photo. You captured the beauty of living in New Mexico.
It doesn’t matter where in the state you live….the skies are always gorgeous!
Happy Sky Watching!

How can you get more than 80 comments on Sky Watch! And only 30 and so on politics!
Are there 2/3 of foreign bloggers ? I wonder? Your previous post was very interesting.
Anyway! We’re here for Sky Watch.
The movement of the crowded street opposed to the serenity of your sky is OK for me.
That cover of clouds looks like a thick protection. It means : “make good dreams”.
Have a nice week-end, Louise.
November 7, 2008 at 3:03 am
That little reflection in the lower left-hand corner made a huge difference to the balance of the picture

Oh Louise, that is stunning! I love the reflections in the windows, too. You certainly have some wonderful sunsets in the desert. Have a happy weekend! 🙂
November 7, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Wicked cool shot! And yes, I’d say the car windows were a bonus in this case.
Re: Your amazement at the crepe myrtle still blooming in October, you should know that shot was taken on October 3rd… so it was almost still September and only a few weeks removed from the official end of summer (sometime around September 21 or 22 right?). So really, it isn’t all that surprising… especially in a warm climate like ours.
November 7, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Just gorgeous. Thanks for your kind words for me at Sydney Daily Photo
November 7, 2008 at 9:10 pm

Just WOW!
November 8, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Hi Louise, thanks for your visit, I can only imagin just how busy you are.
Those extra cards added to it a bit I should think. Well Done though for all the hard work.
Now a quicky.Take however many sweet paper or foil cases you want to use.
Having melted chocolate, line the cases with the melted chocolate twice, allowing the first layer to set before applying the second layer.
Fill with your favourite chocolate spread, which has had a small amount of your favourite spirit added and mixed in, add a hazel nut also and seal with more melted chocolate. If you can wait to eat them fine, if not enjoy.
November 8, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Really a beautiful sky! Great!
November 8, 2008 at 8:21 pm

Louise, everyone has already said it; a perfect Halloween sky! Magnificent.
November 9, 2008 at 1:01 am
Uh, Louise, do you feel just a bit imposed upon by the 30×3 invitations they dropped in your lap?
“Louis” is ticked off about their taking advantage of you and it didn’t even involve him!
The soup/bread Friday is a superb idea! “Louis” loves to bake bread, so this is right up his alley!
November 9, 2008 at 7:14 am
It’s beautiful sunset. Thanks for visiting my SWF!
