This picture was not taken today, or even in this state, but the sky looks almost the same as it does today here.
The picture was taken in June in Missouri from my dad’s house. They had 11 Canadian geese that flew over every morning and evening while I was visiting last spring. I found them at a nearby pond one day during the day, but I do not know where they were most of the time.
I did not have any turkey pictures with sky in them, so I thought that geese would have to due to Thanksgiving.
If you are in the United States, I hope you are having a relaxed and festive day, and that you eat exactly the right amount to make you happy!

Happy Thanksgiving Louise.
Never seen such parade in our Sky! They’re so well-ordered in your beautiful Sky. Sure they attract attention.
November 27, 2008 at 3:39 pm
A very nice shiny effect in the sky, and the geese fly a bit in a bow form, which makes a terrific photo. Turkeys with a sky, hahaha, I don’t have them either.
November 27, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Stunning photo. I love watching sky and watching sky full of geese is even better:-)
Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and all your beloved ones.

The line of geese over the hole in the sky is mesmerising.
November 27, 2008 at 5:31 pm
I don’t think turkeys fly that high, so not a problem that you didn’t have a turkey photo. Maybe next year. 😉
November 27, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Goose is good stuffed too. 🙂

November 27, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Very cool shot – can’t ever seem to capture moving birds (or still ones, at that, unless they’re dead). Gorgeous!
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving – I’m very grateful for you.
November 27, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Beautiful photos of the geese. Are they migrating to warmer areas over here to escape the winter? Happy Thanksgiving to you.
November 27, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Simply wonderful Louise!! I am in Oklahoma and the geese started arriving about 3 weeks ago for their winter visit.
I got a few shots of them down at the lake. We did have a couple that would visit here at our pond everyday all winter.
But now our geese have finally run them off. They didn’t come last year and I haven’t seen them this year either.
Thanks for a wonderful share of these beautiful geese and that wonderful blue sky!!
Happy SWF:-)
November 27, 2008 at 7:37 pm

Thanks for the geese Louise. Lovely to see. Saw a David Attenborough program on tv last night, where geese had to fly way over the highest mountains. Amazing birds!
Annie
ps I know what you mean about the skies…our skies have been mostly stromy or rainy, but there are many different little moments to capture here luckily!

They can be deafening when they fly over the house every day, if you’ve got all the windows open. Just have to stop conversing until they’ve passes, because no one can hear a thing!

Beautiful homage to someone who appears to be a wonderful woman. Good for you.

Nice Sky Watch capture. I love to see, and hear, geese.
Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving Day, Louise.
November 30, 2008 at 10:15 am
What a beautiful post, Louise! Grandma D is such a blessing to your father and to your family, and it’s wonderful to create a tribute to her on her birthday! It’s sad how sometimes family can be a painful burden because they are self-serving and enjoy “drama” but you are right to ignore that faction–they aren’t worth your time, except in prayer! All my best!
Marie

Grandma D sounds wonderful… happy birthday to her from me! I hope that she recovers soon from her ordeal, and I hope that those members of your family that do not appreciate her will start to do so NOW!
Thanks for coming by… will be back!
